Georgia Racing Hall of Fame
The
Georgia Racing Hall of Fame (GRHOF) has officially re-opened
August 2007.
The museum, which has been recognized by the state legislature
as the official home of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame,
recognizes prominent members of Georgia’s racing heritage.
Museum hours are: Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Volunteers open the museum on weekends: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Holiday hours will
vary...
The
best part is that guests can visit the museum for free —there
will be no charge for admission; we run on donations.
Gordon Pirkle,
local businessman and long time racing enthusiast, can often be
seen taking groups of people through the museum and sharing his
love for this segment of Dawsonville’s history. Pirkle explains
how stock car racing roots started in moonshine manufacturing
and distribution.
